For the most comprehensive, all-inclusive workout yet, check out Fit Camp—an instructional class that combines spinning, sprint intervals, resistance training, core strengthening, plyometrics, stability and stretching all into one power-packed workout!
In addition to utilizing several different areas in the SRWC like the exercise bikes, track, weight area and table machines, participants will be equipped with Polar heart rate monitors to calculate their heart rate during the workout.
“Getting to see your heart rate while working is really helpful,” said class instructor Jen Ratanapratum. “As participants work out on their own and perceive their own heart rate, they can gauge how hard they are actually exercising with real-time effort tracking. This allows them to keep themselves accountable.”
Heart rate is calculated by age, and each monitor displays several zones that participants can be in—a light zone (resting heart rate), green zone and red zone (working hard). These monitors are provided and set up in the class to fulfill its purpose of being both educational and effective.
By incorporating cardiovascular exercise with Spin, strength building with weight and resistance training, and flexibility with stretching after class, Fit Camp truly is the all-encompassing workout. The class is for all ages and is fee based, capping at 12 participants to ensure one-on-one attention with the instructor. It takes place Mondays and Wednesdays from 4 to 5:15 p.m. by Spin Zone.
“You get a combination of all the best things in the SRWC and we block off the areas we work out so participants don’t have to wait for machines,” assured Jen. “Instead, they can gain knowledge and engage in a fun, interactive form of exercise. We keep each other accountable and develop community!”
