Grab your mega mushroom and head to the SRWC for this Mario Brothers inspired extravaganza! Participants will have the opportunity to make the popular video game a reality with challenging activities, a pizza party and the ultimate raffle prize of a classic Nintendo Entertainment System.
“Some students might hesitate to come to the SRWC because they think it’s a bunch of weightlifting or athletic programs, but we want to show students that we have a ton of fun, helpful resources for them,” said inclusive recreation lead Matt Vico.
All the SRWC departments will come together on March 16 to create “Super Cardio Party” with different levels. The activities will be as follows:
- Level 1: Mario Power-up / Beach Balance / 1 – 5 p.m.
- Level 2: Water World Obstacle Race / Aquatic Center / 1 – 5 p.m.
OR
Level 2: Beanstalk Warp / Rock Wall / 2 – 5 p.m. - Level 3: Smash Bros. Dodge Ball / Main Gym Court A / 5 – 7 p.m.
- Level 4: Mario Cart-N-Dart / Main Gym Court C / 5 – 7 p.m.
- Final Level: Classic Mario Bros. Pizza Party / Aquatics Center / 7 – 10 p.m.
At the Beach Balance power-up station, for example, participants can assess their body mass index. For the Mario Cart-N-Dart, participants will race in the 50/50 wheelchair/fitness obstacle course. And to wrap it up, a large screen classic Super Mario Bros. challenge will declare the final winner.
“The SRWC affords many different programs to benefit our physical and mental state, and it’s exciting to try them out with fun, themed activities,” said Matt.
The main activities will be taking place in the SRWC on March 16 from 1 to 7 p.m., and the pizza party will occur afterwards. Participants will have the chance to win raffle tickets for the Nintendo at each level.
