Want to experience working out in a small-group setting with expert trainers?
For a minimal fee—less than half of what private sector trainers charge—you can join one of the several SRWC instructional classes. Trainers design the classes to be progressive so that participants achieve new skill levels. Additionally, class sizes are intentionally small, ranging from 8 to 20 participants, to get hands-on, one-on-one training.
Whatever your goal is we have a class for it:
In Boxing 101, you will learn the basic punches, correct footwork and patterns of movement. This class will improve your cardiovascular endurance and your overall health and fitness. The class meets Mondays and Wednesdays, from 6 to 7 p.m., and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
If boxing is not your thing, try our Total Body Shred class. In this class, you will jumpstart your fitness routine, learn new exercises and receive guided training on proper machine use. The class meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
In Tactical Martial Arts, you will learn how to perform strikes that focus on precision, accuracy and fluidity! In this class, you will cover basic striking techniques and learn how to put together combos that involve movement, strategy and defensive maneuvers to help improve your tactility. The class meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m.
Or, if you want more specific training, try Taekwondo! This program focuses on traditional taekwondo techniques, while incorporating supplemental strength and flexibility exercises. In this class, you will learn the basic taekwondo kicks, blocks and strikes. The goal is to improve your self-defense skills while also getting a full-body workout that will leave you feeling accomplished by the end of each class. The class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 to 6 p.
There are two (2) six-week sessions offered during the fall semester. Session one starts the week of Sept. 12 and session two starts the week of Oct. 24. Register now on the SRWC GO app under Instructional Classes or in-person at the Fitness desk.
