For many, the new year is a time to reflect on everything we’ve endured and accomplished. By reflecting on the past, we can set our sights on the future - allowing opportunities for growth and adventure. At Beach Balance, we promote a holistic approach to health, and with just over one month into the new year, we encourage you to do the same!
Make this year the best yet with our wellness tips! For starters, there are six dimensions of wellbeing: physical, emotional, social, spiritual, mental and financial. Learning about each dimension can help you improve your quality of life. It may seem overwhelming at first, but that’s why we’ve created some small steps to help you improve your holistic health!
- Physical Wellbeing Get your daily movement in by joining a virtual group exercise class, or by working with a personal trainer. Sign-up for a FREE 30-minute movement screening for an opportunity to win a $50 Lululemon gift card! And don’t forget to eat nutrient-dense meals throughout the day. You can also work with a peer nutrition counselor and discover ways to improve your diet. Individuals that complete two sessions are entered into a drawing for an Instant Pot!
- Emotional and Spiritual Wellbeing Practice mindfulness by trying a weekly meditation session hosted by Beach Balance! Mindful Meditation occurs every Monday at 4 p.m. via Zoom.
- Social Wellbeing Get involved and connect with other students at our laid-back virtual events such as Guided Art Therapy on Feb. 17 at 5:30 p.m.
- Mental Wellbeing Be patient with yourself and keep your mind active. Learn how to let loose and relieve stress with us at our DIY Wellness Hours. Stay in touch with the ASI Event Calendar, where upcoming mental wellness events will be added throughout the month.
- Financial Wellbeing Make some time for our Financial Empowerment series hosted by ASI Student Government! From 2 to 3 p.m. on Feb. 19, tune in via Zoom to learn all about credit scores and car purchase negotiations. For more financial workshops, explore BeachSync. Check out other opportunities such as Shopping on a Budget during CalFresh Outreach Week at 2 p.m. on Feb. 23.
