What's New in November

By Julian Tack

November is the official start of the holiday season. Not only are there amazing sales throughout the remaining months, but there are plenty of new releases too. Whether you are a fan of movies or games, there’s a little something for everyone. The following are some things worth keeping an eye on in November.

Next Generation Consoles

Microsoft has released the Xbox Series X and S while Sony came out with the PS5. The specs for both consoles are capable of reaching 120 frames per second and 8k resolution. Although it’s more than likely that most games will run at 60 FPS and 4k resolution, both consoles are guaranteed to have backwards compatibility, faster load times, and visually improved graphics. Both the base consoles cost $500. PS5 Digital Edition is $400 while the less powerful Xbox Series S costs $300.

Video Games

Along with the next gen consoles comes a brand new set of games. Fans of science fiction should check out Destiny 2: Beyond Light and No Man’s Sky: Next Generation. These are the biggest expansions for each respective title to date that will provide players with new gear, locations, abilities, and lore. Fans of racing can play Dirt 5 and Need For Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered. One is a sequel to a popular racing franchise, the other is a remaster to a racing classic in its own right. Spider-Man Miles Morales will be launching on both PS4 and PS5 on Nov. 12 while Demon Souls also makes its return. Godfall is a new co-op rpg coming out on day one for the PS5 as well. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War will be released on all platforms. There will also be many other games getting a visual upgrade for Xbox Series X and PS5. New To Netflix

Along with the countless (and frankly too many to list) holiday Netflix original content, comes a variety of other movies and shows arriving to the streaming giant. Dawson’s Creek is currently available to binge on Netflix. The show is about four friends who live in a small coastal town who help each other cope with adolescence. Another bingeable show is The Crown season 4. If you are looking to watch something that is suspenseful then checkout Ocean’s Eleven starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, and Matt Damon as their characters attempt to commit multiple bank heists at the same time. V For Vendetta is set in a dystopian future where the anti-hero known as V plots to eliminate the ruling government with the help of a young woman played by Natalie Portman. This is just a short list of content coming to the streaming giant but for the list be sure to view: https://www.whats-on-netflix.com/coming-soon/whats-coming-to-netflix-in-november-2020-11-11/

This is just scratching the surface of what’s to come late this year. All the items here are definitely worth keeping an eye on or purchasing for friends, family, or to treat yourself after a long, chaotic year. If you are looking for something to watch there’s plenty of new content coming to Netflix as well as the many other streaming services. Hopefully you find something special this holiday season.

Reuniting, Internationally

The year before I moved to the States, I joined a non-profit with a group of friends. The co-founders named it “The Cambio Project” after the word Spanish word for ‘change’. Being environmental activists, we wanted to bring about said change through photography. By the end of our first year of operation, the majority of our core members left to study abroad. Two went to the Netherlands, another to Canada and I chose America. Our lives quickly drifted apart.

American Dream or American Nightmare?

Many foreigners grow up hearing about how America is the greatest country in the world, and that anyone can come here and achieve their dreams. For many of our ancestors, this was true, but is it different now?
