Escape the Fate’s newest album is filled with one rock anthem after another.
Las Vegas rock group Escape the Fate have had their fair share of ups and downs. From their struggle with lead singer Ronnie Radke, to co-writing songs with Mötley Crüe guitarist Mick Mars, they have seen it all. Their latest album, “I Am Human,” is definitely one of their highs.
Before the album was released, the band put out the single “I Am Human,” a title shared with the 2018 record. The song was received warmly by both fans and critics. Following the single, Escape the Fate released a music video for another song from the album, “Broken Heart.”
I have to admit, this video was really fun. I loved the concept and I highly recommend watching it, even if you don’t usually like rock music or Escape the Fate. Further, the song is relatable to anyone who has ever struggled with moving on from a past relationship. The song is also one of my personal favorites off of the album.
“I Am Human” is a great blend of the many subdivisions rock contains, ranging from acoustic love songs like “If Only” to hardcore songs like “Digging My Own Grave.” At times, the album is a return to their roots. Songs like “Empire” and “Riot” bring back the sounds and moods captured in albums like “Hate Me” and “Ungrateful.” However, songs like “Four Letter Word” and “I Will Make It Up to You” have a more pop rock sound than previous albums. While the sound may differ, it is not for the worse. No single song on the album is dull or boring. No song gives the listener the urge to skip.
The album opens with “Beautifully Tragic,” a fantastically fun song that is just as high-energy as the band that performs it. It is an awesome way to open a rock album and set the stage for what is to come.
The title song, “I Am Human,” is an anthem for today’s youth. Escape the Fate gives rock fans a song to sing out, telling them to embrace who they are. It’s a song for everyone. As the lyrics state: “I am strong. I am weak. I am proud to be me. I am human. I am weird. I’m a freak. I’m different. I’m unique. You are just like me.”
By relating people of all sorts of backgrounds, Escape the Fate has made a song that brings people together.
