Whether you like it or not, the slime craze is still going hard in 2018. Kids are still selling different types of slime in the schoolyard. Slime kits can retail from $20 to $40, but you don’t have to break the bank to join the craze. Here’s what you need for a cheaper alternative to a store-bought kit.
Materials:
Bowls - Free
Elmer’s Washable School Glue, 7.6 ounce - $1.39
Water - Free
Spoon - Free
Food Coloring (Optional) - $3.48
Glitter (Optional)
Mule Team Borax, 65 ounce - $4.49
Total Cost = $9.36
I got all of my materials from Target out of convenience, but be warned: Although Target is a magical place, we all know that Target can become a trap that you will willingly give all your money to. I strongly suggest you visit your local Dollar Tree or 99 Cent Store for an even more discounted price on materials.
So, now that we have all of our materials, it’s slime time!
Step 1
In a bowl, mix 1 oz. of glue and ¼ cup of water.
Step 2 (Optional)
Mix food coloring and glitter with the glue and water mixture. I eyeballed my measurements for this step and added as much glitter and food coloring as my heart desired.
Step 3
Add ¼ cup of Borax to the mixture and stir slowly. The slime will begin to form in this step!
Step 4
Keep stirring until it thickens, then knead until the slime forms. Drain any water left over. Don’t worry, the food coloring will wash off with soap and water.
Step 5
Enjoy your slime!
